Heather Smith

B.A. – History and Medieval and Medievalism Studies (with distinction)

B.Mus. – Music History and Voice (with distinction)

Heather Smith began at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2013 as a music major where she rediscovered her love of Italian Renaissance history. She subsequently expanded her single degree to a double degree in order to fully pursue this area of study.

While at Laurier, she worked as an editor and reviewer on the Laurier Undergraduate Journal of the Arts, a Supplemental Instructional Assistant, mentoring second year music history students, and as a research assistant. Her work has been published in several undergraduate research journals. The Trionfi Project is highlighted as an Affiliated Project on the University of Toronto’s DECIMA website.

Heather became a new mom in May, 2018, and graduated with a double degree Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Music in June, 2018. She was honoured to be awarded a Canada Graduate Scholarship – Master’s (SSHRC), and is excited to begin her Master of Arts in History at the University of Toronto in September, 2019 where she will expand upon her work on The Trionfi Project.

 

Dylann Miller

Wilfrid Laurier University

Dylann Miller is a fourth year student at Wilfrid Laurier University studying voice with Marianne Bindig and composition with Linda Catlin Smith.  Dylann has been very fortunate to have her work performed across the Kitchener-Waterloo region at venues such as KWCMS’ Music Room, and by various ensembles such as Wilfrid Laurier’s Concert Choir, the Laurier Singers, The Prometheus Trio, Audax, and 5play.  Dylann was also the recipient of a SOCAN Foundation award in 2016, in the Godfrey Ridout category for her SSSAAA piece, Remember.  As a vocalist, Dylann was awarded a bursary from York Region’s Celebration of the Arts in 2015 and performed in Opera Laurier’s fall opera excerpts as Virtù in the Prologue of l’incoronazione di Poppea.  Dylann was also a co-director and member of Audax from 2015-2016, an all-women’s improvisation ensemble founded by Katerina Gimon in 2014.  At the end of her undergraduate degree, Dylann intends to apply for a master’s degree in composition.
